Clive Semmens among East Anglia's Green Party parliamentary candidates who met in Stowmarket

5 February 2015

Messages for the campaign were discussed with candidates from Bedfordshire, Essex, Hertfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Norfolk and Suffolk all in attendance, as well as local councillors and London Assembly member, Darren Johnson.

Currently the Green Party has selected candidates for 40 of the 58 constituencies in the East, with approximately another dozen selection processes ongoing.

Nationally the Green Party has said that it will stand in 75% of constituencies - 50% more than in 2010.

Regional Development Manager, Martin Schmierer, said:

"It was great to see so many candidates from across the region on Sunday. This is a really exciting time for the Greens with less than 100 days to go till the election and there was a real sense of enthusiasm among the candidates. We are confident that by promoting our positive vision for a fairer Britain, we will see the recent surge in membership translated into increased vote shares in constituencies across the East on May 7th"

Green Party membership in the East has now exceeded 4,500.
